About Orange Heart Club
Orange Heart Club is an after school program for elementary school students (Grades 1-6) to develop meaningful relationships, practices, and understandings of the history of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Designed by experts in Indigenous education and staffed by a team of Indigenous and allied educators, youth workers, and social workers, the program helps both Indigenous and non-Indigenous children to learn about Indigenous experiences and perspectives of colonialism through play, stories, and interactive experiences. The Orange Heart is a symbol of truth and reconciliation, through which the next Seven Generations of Canadians can enter into more meaningful, honest, and inclusive relationships with Indigenous peoples and lands. 🧡
Each session block will invite participants to deepen their understandings of Indigenous cultures and worldview with seasonal teachings, stories, and activities that promote inclusion, diversity, and relational skills. The program invites both Indigenous and non-Indigenous children to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and friendship. Join us daily for instructional activities, nutritional snacks, and fun! We will also be offering full-day programs for TDSB PA days.
Our team is offering after school pick-up Monday to Friday at Palmerston, Clinton, Hawthorne-Essex, and Montrose Public Schools.
Snacks and activities will provide, as well as an Orange Shirt! Parents will also have access to educational resources on how to meaningfully engage their children in social justice and reconciliation with Indigenous communities across Canada.
